چکیده

Service-orienting computing systems refer to computing and information systems that are developed in service-oriented architecture, service-oriented computing paradigm, and service-oriented development lifecycle. The development of service-oriented computing systems is completing the first decade in its lifespan. Service-oriented computing systems started with the concept of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). As distributed architecture, SOA considers a software system consisting of a collection of loosely coupled services that communicate with each other through standard interfaces and protocols. These services are platform-independent. They can be published in public or private directories or repositories for software developers to reuse and to compose their applications. As software architecture, SOA is a conceptual model that concerns the organization and interfacing among the software components (services). It does not concern the development of operational software. The definitions of the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) in 2000, the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) in 2001, and the Universal Description Discovery and Integration (UDDI) in 2002 established the foundation of Web Services (WS) and WS-based architecture, which gave SOA a live instance and paved it road to the success. The next step of the development is the formation of Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) paradigm. SOC paradigm is based on the SOA conceptual model. However, it goes a step further to include not only the concepts and principles, but also the methods, algorithms, coding, and evaluation considerations, which are a large part of the software development process. As shown in Fig. 1, layers of technologies have been developed for supporting SOC system development, includes

RESCUE: Reputation based Service for Cloud User Environment

Exceptional characteristics of Cloud computing has replaced all traditional computing. With reduced resource management and without in-advance investment, it has been victorious in making the IT world to migrate towards it. Microsoft announced its office package as Cloud, which can prevent people moving from Windows to Linux. As this drift is escalating in an exponential rate, the cloud environ...

Evolving Dependable Real-Time Systems

1 The Software Engineering Institute is sponsored by the US Department of Defense. Abstract — To keep systems affordable, there is a trend towards using open standard and commercial off the shelf (COTS) components in the development of dependable real-time systems. However, the use of COTS also introduces the vendor-driven upgrade problem that is relatively new to the dependable realtime comput...

Autonomic and Dependable Computing: Moving Towards a Model-Driven Approach

The rapidly increasing complexity of computing systems is driving the movement towards autonomic systems that are capable of managing themselves without the need for human intervention. Without autonomic technologies, many conventional systems suffer reliability degradation and compromised security. Autonomic management techniques reverse this trend. This study describes the roles and functions...

Enforcing Composability for Ubiquitous Computing Systems

Ubiquitous computing provides a paradigm shift in computing systems to an environment with a potentially large number of typically small networked components. At the same time they tend to disappear from the view of the user by providing user interfaces through the physical world. But this new paradigm also requires adapted design and engineering methods to guarantee a certain quality of servic...

Architecting Dependable Access Control Systems for Multi-domain Computing Environments

Modern computing systems are built based on Service Oriented Architectures and are made up of multiple distributed components. They often span separate and autonomous domains of administration and involve dynamic collaboration. Resources and services are exposed as Web Services that are a natural choice for achieving interoperability in a heterogeneous computing environment. Access control syst...
